Many owners don’t know where to turn once their puppy classes are over – because training your dog doesn’t end just because the classes do! Dogs still have so much to learn after they reach six months of age.

Adult Dog Basic Skills Class

Duration: 6 weeks
Cost: $210
Suitable for: Owners and dogs aged over 6 months
Locations: Albany Creek QLD, Clontarf QLD, Red Hill QLD

This course cater to owners and dogs aged six months and older. The program provides you with the fundamentals of how your dog learns, how your dog communicates, and the most effective way to train your dog. In this program we will cover:

  • Clicker training
  • Leadership
  • Calm behaviour – why it’s important and some techniques
  • Walk on a loose lead
  • Come when called
  • Respond to their name with eye contact (around mild distractions)
  • Sit on cue
  • Drop on cue
  • Stand on cue
  • Sit for a greeting
  • Calm handling and grooming
  • Stay (for a short period of time)
  • Preventing and solving problem behaviours like jumping up, barking and digging

Our Adult Dog Classes are small, with a maximum of 6 dogs in each course so that everyone gets plenty of individualised attention. Please note that our first class in the program is just for humans! In the first dog-free week, we will explain the basics of positive reinforcement training and how dogs learn. You will also receive your clicker and learn how it is used as a powerful positive training tool. We will also use the first class to talk about what you want to get out of classes and things you would like to cover in the remaining five weeks.

Adult Dog Advanced Skills Class

Duration: 6 weeks
Cost: $210
Suitable for: Owners and dogs aged over 7 months
Locations: Albany Creek QLD

This course caters to owners and dogs aged seven months and older – and as a prerequisite, you must have completed the Adult Dog Basic Skills Class with The Positive Pet Project.

This class is the next step, building on the behaviours taught in the basic skills class and focusing on good manners for everyday life while you and your dog are out and about together. It also helps start you off with the behaviours you will need to know if you intend to take your dog for a Delta Therapy Dog Assessment. This course focuses on providing you and your dog the opportunity to learn to be calm and well-mannered in all sorts of places. In this course we will cover:

  • Calm behaviour in new locations
  • Loose lead walking
  • Walking politely past other dogs
  • Leave it
  • Come when called – distance
  • Sitting or standing politely for stroking
  • Doorway and getting out of the car manners
  • Canine behaviour
  • Simple problem solving
  • Body language
  • Starting to work with our dog off lead
  • Fun games and tricks

Our Adult Dog Classes are small, with a maximum of 6 dogs in each course so that everyone gets plenty of individualised attention. Unlike our other programs, all six classes in this course are for both dogs and humans.

La Casa De Pooch Mini Course

Duration: 3 weeks
Cost: $105
Suitable for: Owners and dogs aged over 6 months
Locations: Geebung, QLD

This course caters to owners and dogs aged six months and older. The program provides you with the fundamentals of how your dog learns, how your dog communicates, and the most effective way to train your dog. In this program we will cover:

  • Clicker training
  • Calm behaviour – why it’s important and some techniques
  • Respond to their name with eye contact (around mild distractions)
  • Sit on cue
  • Drop on cue
  • Stand on cue
  • Nail clipping, calm handling and grooming

This mini course is a taster and will get you started on your dog training journey and a better relationship with your dog. The focus is to help you understand positive reinforcement training and to show how to get started in training your dog in some basic behaviours. All these behaviour will also help your dog to feel more comfortable and be much easier to handle at the grooming salon.

Our Mini Adult Dog Classes are small, with a maximum of 4 dogs in each course so that everyone gets plenty of individualised attention. Please note that our first class in the program is just for humans! In the first dog-free week, we will explain the basics of positive reinforcement training and how dogs learn. You will also receive your clicker and learn how it is used as a powerful positive training tool. We will also use the first class to talk about what you want to get out of classes and things you would like to cover in the remaining 2 weeks.
